Stila 'Eyes Are The Window' SOUL palette REVIEW

During the Sephora VIB sale, I purchased two things- a foundation by Makeup Forever and the Stila The Eyes Are the Window to the Soul palette.  I love that all of the colors are neutral and all of the colors work together with each other so there are endless options for how you could use this palette and use it.
Can we just talk about this packaging? I mean, isn't it gorgeous?! It's so pretty and looks so high end, I just love it! The S's are a gold, rose gold, and a silver-ish type of color and then is surrounded by gold, albeit not real gold.  It is a magnetic open and close palette but it's a very sturdy casing and could take a beating and your eyeshadows would still be just fine.
The colors for the palette are are neutral and smokey colors, which makes the transition from day to night with one palette very easy.  There are 4 matte shades (there may be five, but I'm still debating on if it's actually matte) and the rest of the colors have a shimmer to them.  Not really a glitter shimmer but just a nice shimmer shimmer to it.  I have not had any problem with fall out with this palette, which is great.
This palette was released alongside three others in honor of Stila's 20th Anniversary.  They cost $49 each, which is a bit steep but I did get it at the sale so that is how I justified it.  Do you have any of these palettes? Which do you like best? Would you buy this palette if given the chance? I would love to know! XOXO

One mascara, two mascara, three mascara WEE!

Okay, so I don't have three mascaras it's more like eleven and one clear gel for my brows.  I know, I know, that's so many mascaras, right? Don't worry, dear fellow beauty bloggers, not all of them are open, I just took them out of their packaging because it was bulky and in the way.  Right now the two that I am using are Maybelline's Mega Plush mascara and the L'Oreal  Butterfly mascara and I keep them in my acrylic storage on my desk so I make sure to use them every day.  Would you feel better if I told you the ones that aren't opened yet? Okay, I haven't opened the Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert, The Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves, and the E.L.F. glitter mascara. So I guess I have a slight obsession but I like having choices and being able to rotate them out every week makes it worth it.
The Maybelline Pumped Up Volume really surprised me, I had never tried any piece of makeup made by Maybelline and so I was wary of how this mascara would work.  It makes my lashes look fuller and slightly longer so I would recommend it for you too try. I am still unsure of the Maybelline Mega Plush mascara, since I've only used it a few times since the new week started on Sunday. Then I have four Rimmel mascaras, two of which are unopened but one is a repurchase and the other I can talk about how I think it will work with the funny brush. Firstly, Scandaleyes Curve Alert is hand down one of my most loved mascaras.  It helps to make my lashes look like I'm wearing falsies and I just absolutely love this mascara. The other Scandaleyes I have is the Rockin' Curves one, I've never tried this one and since it isn't opened yet I can't attest to what it does to my lashes.  The thing that interests me about this mascara si the wand, it's in an almost 'S' shape.  I will let you know my findings when I open it! Another Rimmel mascara I own is the Retro Glam mascara.  This wand has two little bumps in the brush and that helps to make my lashes look more lush.  Finally, the last Rimmel mascara I own is the Lash Accelerator.  This one I am not too impressed with and am going to get rid of it.  I already have pretty good lashes so I guess I wasn't the best person to test the mascara that's supposed to help with the growth and lengthening of the lashes.
I received the CK One mascara on my birthday from Ulta as my birthday gift for being a rewards member.  Speaking of that, if you're not an Ulta rewards member you should definitely become because you get special coupons, a birthday gift, the chance to be a platinum member (which I am one) and you can get money off of your purchase if you have the right amount of points.  Anyway, I really like this mascara.  It separates my lashes  and doesn't make them clump, which was a fear of mine because of the brush being plastic but none of my fears happened.  This is a great mascara for seperating and lengthening my lashes.  Next mascara is the L'Oreal butterfly mascara.  I really love this stuff because it gives my natural lashes a winged look, which I am always trying to achieve.  Then the L'Oreal Voluminous I really just bought on a whim because it was teal colored.  I actually really like it when I do a coat of black mascara and then coat that with a layer of the Teal.  I think that the teal just alone would be too over powering.  Revlon Lash Potion, this is another one I need to throw away because it just doesn't work for me.  It doesn't look good on my lashes and it can't hold a curl worth a hill of beans.  So, in my personal opinion, don't get the Revlon Lash Potion mascara. As for the blue glitter mascara, I don't really know much about it other than that it is glittery.  Since I haven't opened it I have no idea if it is good or bad.
What are some of your favorite mascaras? Do you collect them like I do? Which one (high end or drugstore) should I try next?
Thanks for reading! XOXO

Hard Candy CC Cream Review

About three months ago, I had the daunting task of trying to find a BB or CC cream that would match my skin tone, which is hard due to how pale I am.  Well, I came across this guy made buy Hard Candy (available only at Walmart). I was so excited when it matched my skin nicely and it had a light to medium coverage as well as having an SPF.  What really disappointed me about this was about two months after I got it, it started to separate but was able to be fixed by shaking it.  Now it's like no amount of shaking will mix it back together well and I'm really disappointed because I really liked this cream. Have any of you tried this cream before? Did you have the same problem or was your experience different? XOXO

Twice the Liebster Awards, Twice the Love

Hello again Stars and welcome back to my blog. Over the past week I have been nominated for two Liebster awards which is super exciting but, because of the show that I'm working on and starting a new job I haven't had time to answer them. So (finally) here are my answers and my nominations for both of the lovely people who nominated me!
First I'll start with the rules:
1. Answer the questions sent to you.
2. Nominate 11 bloggers who have under 200 followers on Twitter.
3. Ask them 11 questions thought of by yourself.
4. Notify them that they have been nominated.

The first person who nominated me was @megandoesbeauty on Twitter. Here are her questions and my answers!
1. What inspired you to start your blog?
Anna at Vivianna Does Makeup was my inspiration to start my blog and my vlog.  She encouraged me through notes back and forth on Twitter and answering any and all of my questions. Also, I have a love for makeup (well, duh) and I wanted a creative outlet to show that love and, poof!, my blog was born.
2. What three cosmetic products could you not live without?
Hmmm, this is tricky narrowing it down to three. I think my first product would have to be my Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert mascara, my Naked 3 palette, and my NARS blush in Super Orgasm.
3. What are the first three things you do when you wake up?
First I check my phone to see what's going on in the world, I then play with my dog for a little bit, and then I go and brush my teeth and wash my face.
4. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
Some Icing products from their 75% off sale.
5. What is the most underrated beauty brand and why?
Personally I think Revlon gets really underrated because, well, I'm not sure really. I just feel they're underrated.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Being on time.
7. One piece of blogging advice for your new fellow bloggers.
Have fun with it!
8. What is your signature makeup look?
Black eyeliner, slightly flushed cheek, and red lips.
9. What is your latest cosmetic product craze?
It would definitely have to be my new found love of E.L.F products.  They are so price conscious and yet good quality.
10. How are you finding your new blogging lifestyle?
Well, I've actually had this blog for going on two years now but about a month ago I decided to revamp my blog, create a YouTube Channel, create a Twitter account, and really try to spread my reach out on social media.
11. What is your best style/beauty/fashion tip?
Wear it proudly, no matter what you're wearing on your body or on your face. Rock the catwalk of life.

Next I was nominated by the lovely Alyssa Melanie also known as @angsavvy on Twitter and here are her questions and my answers!
1. What is your blog about? Why did you choose to blog about it?
My blog is about all things beauty and style, but not necessarily fashion.  I chose to blog about that because I love makeup so much and I wanted to share my ideas with people and review products that were both good and bad.
2. Who is your inspiration for your blog?
The inspiration for my blog is really no one actually. It's more the idea that beauty comes from the within.
3. If you could take 5 makeup/beauty/fashion item with you to heaven, what would they be?
First would be my MAC Skin Mineralize in Soft and Gentle, second would be my Naked 3 palette, next would probably be my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, fourth would be my Bath and Body Works lotion in Stress Relief, and finally I would bring my Vera Wang perfume.
4. When did you start blogging? What made you do it?
I started blogging about two years ago because I had started reading Anna's blog over at Vivianna Does Makeup and was inspired to start my own.
5. Would you buy clothes, makeup or beauty products you haven’t tried on or tested? Why?
Sometimes, it would depend on if I knew the brand well and if I knew I already liked the product.
6. Do you think it’s worth shelling out money for designer and high-end brands? Why?
Personally, if the product works for you and you know that you won't have to buy anything else (like a million drugstore foundations if you have one high end one that works on you) I would say that it definitely is worth it.
7.  How do you test makeup (especially lipsticks) products at the counter? Do you sanitize them first? Explain how.
I never test them on my lips, I always swatch them on my hand. If it looks grody or gross at all, I don't even swatch it on my hand.
8.  Would you review a product from a fashion or beauty brand you don’t really like? Why?
I would because every brand has good and bad reviews, it's how they improve their cosmetic or fashion product.
9. What is your favorite drugstore brand? Which of their products do you love?
My favorite drugstore brand would have to be a tie between Revlon and NYX. From Revlon I love their foundation and primer. From NYX, I really like their lip butters (surprise surprise) but also their blushes, normal and baked.
10. What brand is your most expensive bag? Why did you choose to buy it?
The most expensive brand I own is Urban Decay.  I bought it because I love their products and that they are Vegan.
11. Do you join blog giveaways? Why?
Every once in a while I will, just for the fun of it, but I don't win so it's all just a big game. Why? I don't really have a reason I just do :D
My questions:
1. Why did you name your blog/vlog/twitter what you did?
2. What is your favorite high end beauty product?
3. Do you use drugstore brands? If so, what do you recommend?
4. Are you and Ulta gal or a Sephora gal or a MAC gal?
5. What is your favorite blusher?
6. Liquid, pencil, or gel liner?
7. Who or what inspired you to write your blog?
8. How do you swatch things that you might want to buy?
9. Do you have a morning and night time routine?
10. Lipstick or Lipgloss?
11. What is your favorite movie?

Who I nominate:
1. @MerrieK_PCG
2. @bebeautifulyouu
3. @prettydrasticm
4. @stylemedaring
5. @angsavvy
6. @LynchMobChick
7. @dillybeauty
8. @omqreadmybio
9. @elzabethfrances
10. @AnBeautySecrets
11. @Danielle44996

I can't wait to read your answers to my questions! XOXO

Empties Post #1

This is the first empties post I've done in over a year.  Now that doesn't mean that I haven't used up any products, it's just that I always forgot to save them up.  This time I did save them up and I'm excited to share them with you. A '*' denotes something that I've already re bought or plan to re buy.

August Birchbox!

I was so excited to receive my Birchbox the other day.  It's always nice to know that you're going to get a package full of things you like.  I had canceled my subscription at the end of the school year but my Aunt got me a gift subscription for my birthday. This month theme was 'When flip flops count as formal wear'- so the last month of summer.

Spotlight Series: Essie Nail Polish

I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of days, but to make up for that I'm starting a spotlight series on some of my favorite nail polish and today's post is about the brand Essie.  Most of the Essie nail polishes that I own from Essie are blue, there is only one pink.  I am trying to remedy that predicament.

If I could only use five nail polishes for the rest of my life...

I saw another blogger I follow do I post just like this and it spurred me to do my own.  It made me think about which polishes were truly my favorite, and then narrow it down from there.

NYX Dream Catcher/ Dusk til Dawn Palette Review!

The other day during my Ulta trip and haul, I picked up this cute palette put out by NYX.  It is called the Dream Catcher Palette/ Dusk til Dawn. The colors  remind me immensely of the Naked 2 palette colors, bronzes, a few taupes, and a matte black. The eyeshadows themselves have very little fallout and don't easily crease without primer, so I can't even imagine what it would be like with a primer.

July Favorites

Time for monthly favorites, even though I haven't done one in quite a while. So let's get started, shall we?

My Top 5 Red Lip Products

Hello, friends! I hope you are having a safe and happy summer (if it is summer where you live).  The best thing about warm weather is that you can get away with wearing a bright lip.  Today, I'm going to share with you what my top five favorite red lip products are.

Saturday, July 26, 2014

All of the lip products!

Today I went through all of my lip products, and I want to show you my collection.  Now, before I get some nasty comments, I do use all of these products and I rotate them in my case daily so each one gets equal love.
To start I figured I would use the thing that I have the smallest amount of- lip stains, lip/cheek stains.  One is the popular Posie Tint by Benefit, which I absolutely love. Then this Stainiac lip stain, it's a pretty color but I haven't figured out how to wear it so it's complimentary to my skin tone.

Target and Ulta combined Haul!

Today's blog is about the thing I love the most about blogging- trying new things or trying things that people swear by and use everyday.  So before we get to the haulin', here's a picture of Henry because he is with me every waking moment I'm at home.

FOTD- Marvel's Hawkeye

If anyone knows anything about me, it's that Hawkeye is my all time favorite superhero so it seemed only appropriate to end my Marvel looks with my favorite character.  I had some fun with the arrows, and drew them in with my eyeliner.

Inspired Look: Black Widow

This picture is just to show what I look like without makeup, so you can see some differences in the posts where I am wearing makeup.  Once again, today's look is another Marvel inspired style.

Inspired: Captain America

The look I did today was patriotic, red, white, and blue, and very Captain America.  I used colors from my BH Cosmetics 2nd Edition 120 color palette.
Now, you could do it straight across like I did or you can do it up and down.  I also used my NYX glitter liner, which is a silvery white, and lined my upper lids with it.  I then took my NYX gold liquid eyeliner and put a star in the upper outside corner of each eye.  I know this sounds like a lot of makeup and a bit daunting but it's all about having fun.  That's the basis of this blog too, to have fun, try out some new things, and meet new friends- just like things such as Comic Con.
From the Espionage collection, you could use Frell! as the white-color, for the blue you could use Knight's Watch, and for the red you could use Reaver Red.

Inspired look- The Hulk

Hiya folks, another nerdy related post here #noshame.  I am in full geek out mode because of all of the Marvel movies coming out over the next couple months and with Doctor Who coming back on August 23, I'm in nerd nirvana.  Today's look is inspired by Dr. Banner aka The Hulk.  But first let me show you the base to my face

I Am Iron *Woman*

With San Diego Comic Con coming up in the following week, I've decided to open this blog up to my nerd side and allow it to bleed through into my makeup.  For today's look, I used Iron Man as my inspiration.
For my base I used my favorite drugstore foundation, the Revlon Photo Ready liquid foundation in 01 Ivory but I based that with the Revlon Photo Ready perfecting primer.  I used my beauty blender to splotch it around my face and then I used the Real Techniques buffing brush to blend it all into my skin and make it even.

FOTD: A Time to Celebrate

Today was a special occasion because my best guy friend got accepted to a four year college, so my parents and I took him out to dinner to celebrate the great news of his graduation from a JC and the acceptance into a four year college.  Since this was such a big moment in his life, I did my makeup all nice and proper and that is what I wish to share with you today.

Palette's Galore!

I have always talked about the palette's I use, but I've never showed you just how many palettes I own.  Now, I'm sure this is nothing compared to bigger bloggers who have a whole ton of palettes but I'm getting there.

The Lipstick Tag

As I was perusing the beauty blogs, looking for new ones to follow, and I saw this tag on one of the blogs and so I decided to do it.  Let's get to the questions, shall we?

Keep your nails healthy

I have notoriously bad nail beds, and so I finally started doing something about it.  I'm going to share with you my daily regime to help strengthen my nails and keep them healthy, besides just taking Biotin.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain: Review

I love Revlon products, because they always have a great range of lip colors and they hold my favorite drugstore brand foundation.  The last time I went into the drugstore these beauties were on sale for buy one get one half off, and I have been wanting to try them since they came out, so I figured why in the world not?

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: Review!

I'm 21 and still have a problem with acne and it's annoying.  Yet, this guy right here clears my breakouts up in a couple days without being irritating or stinging.  I'm so excited to share this product with you!

Lush bath fizz in Butterball: Review

On my twenty-first birthday, I went to Universal Studios to celebrate and then we hit City Walk.  They have a great little Lush store there, so for my birthday I treated myself to a little splurge on some new loves and some old loves.  The bath fizz I tried out the other night was Butterball for $4.95, you can also find it on their website here.  This is described as a bath bomb with a vanilla scent that will leave your skin smoother and softer.  I don't know so much about the vanilla scent, I frankly didn't smell anything and was pretty disappointed in that aspect BUT the smooth and softer skin it lived up to.  I couldn't stop feeling my arms or legs because they felt so soft!  Maybe it was my head just being stuffy but I didn't smell any of the promised Vanilla scent and I love Vanilla almost as much as I love Lavender and Sandalwood. At first people think that is a weird combination but let me explain.  Lavender has always had a calming affect on me and I can never get enough of it and as for Sandalwood, the smell reminds me of the scene shop and the long hours spent there and it takes me to a good place when I'm feeling lonely or frustrated.  What are some of your favorite scents? XOXO

Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter: Review!

Hello, lovelies! I hope you are all having a great week.  Today I am reviewing another Soap and Glory product, which you can find at most Sephora's in the United States.  The only sad thing is that it isn't the whole product range of the brand, but they keep adding new stuff every year so maybe we'll get there sooner rather than later.

Ulta Haul

I love makeup stores (gee, really?) and when I went into Ulta today my friend EV was surprised how everyone knew me and knew my name. I frequently go in when I'm in the Colonies, so the entire staff knows who I am. Today I treated myself to a haul, which I hadn't done in a while, and I had some graduation money I was wanting to spend.  Don't worry, I didn't spend it all in Ulta, I also got some things for my new dog, Henry.  That's enough rambling, onto the haul!
Firstly, readers, say hello to Heny, the newest member of our family.

Revlon Shimmer Brick in Rose Gold: Review

I've read countless reviews about the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks so I was completely ecstatic when Revlon came out with their own version.  There are three color variations available for pick up, and I chose Rose Gold.  I'm really pleased with this product because I personally think that it lives up to the hype.  It provides  nice subtle highlight and color to your cheeks at the same time. The pigmentation is pretty great too. The only downside is the $10+ dollar price tag.

Revlon Photoready eyeshadow in Impressionist: Review!

I don't usually go for the mini eyeshadow palettes in the store because I can just as easily create the colors with a larger palette that I already own.  But when I saw this palette, I couldn't get my mind off of it so I finally broke down and bought it.  What did I purchase? The Revlon Photoready eyeshadow palette in 505 'Impressionist'.

A wonderful 21st Birthday

The 28th was my 21st birthday, the big marker of finally being legal.  I spent it at Universal Studios with my parents and had the time of my life. Universal City Walk has a Lush store and I always go in and pick up a thing or two but since it was my birthday, I did a little more treating at Lush and Hot Topic. Whoops

Rimmel Gel Liner: REVIEW

I bought this a while back but only just started using it on a day to day basis.  I had never been one to get on with gel liners, I never seemed to get the handiness of it.  That was all true until I tried this beauty.  It comes with a handy dandy liner brush that fits my hand perfectly and makes it a breeze to put on.  The staying power is fantastic, lasting up to 8 hours.  Now, this isn't waterproof so it will smudge if gotten wet or you rub your eyes, which I have done. I used to be a liquid and pencil only girl but this has changed my heart on the whole matter and I am in love.  You can get this at Walmart, Target, anywhere Rimmel products are sold.  Have you tried this? What do you think of it?XOXO
