Maybelline Nudes palette- Yay or Nay: June Jubilee! Day 1

Hello Stars! Welcome to my new series, June Jubilee!- there is really no rhyme or reason to these posts and videos but they're all going to try and have a happy theme because, ya know, "Jubilee!" I know, cheesy right? Well, I'm a cheesy person ;)  Anyway, as you probably guessed from the title of today's post I will be reviewing the Nudes palette by Maybelline.  Now, don't judge it before you read this review or try it folks- you will be surprised.  The palette looks like this:

The palette itself is quite durable, hard plastic casing with a clear plastic window so you can see the colors.  There is a good mixture of mattes and shimmer/sparkle colors- I was pleasantly surprised.  The only colors that are truly quite chalky are the two whites- top left corner, and second from the bottom right.  Even then, they are still usable unlike I was lead to believe by videos and blog posts bashing this palette.   So after hearing nothing but bad things about this palette I decided that I wanted to give it a try for myself, and I'm very glad I did.  I discovered that, with the right brushes and primer, the shadows can actually look quite nice.
Here are a few of the colors swatched on my fingers:
The far right  (not my pinkie, no shadow on that finger) did get a bit washed out due to flash and bad back lighting.    But that is only two swipes of each color, pretty good for a $9.99 drugstore palette, non?  Here is the look that I created with this palette, not totally me because it's a bit smokey but I was pleasantly surprised with how well a look that I had not planned at all turned out.
I stuck mainly to the taupes for the lid and then took one of the shimmery dark browns and popped that in the crease.  I know shock horror shimmer in the crease but it can be done tastefully, I tell you! I promise! I then took the shimmery white, which was just the tiniest bit chalky, and highlighted my brow bone and then took the gold color and gently popped it into the corner of my eye to help open them up.  I then tight- lined my eyes with a simple NYX black liner and then used the Wet n Wild Max Volume mascara to finish the look off and I think it came off pretty well considering this palette was bashed left, right, and to the moon.  What do you think of this look? Would you now consider getting this palette? I definitely want to get the Blushed Nudes palette.  XOXO

The Palette Roundup!

Hello my bright shiny Stars! I'm getting back to the regular posting whether it's a blog post or a video review or collection. This is my palette collection and, disclaimer time, in no way am I trying to brag or be like 'oooh look at all my palettes'. No. I bought all of these palettes with my own money except for one, which was my first palette. Disclaimer over.  I made this video to show that you don't have to be palette loyal to one brand nor do you have to have every single palette, I know I have a lot but I don't own every palette out there.  I hope you guys enjoy this video and don't forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and to subscribe for more videos! XOXO

NYX Dream Catcher/ Dusk til Dawn Palette Review!

The other day during my Ulta trip and haul, I picked up this cute palette put out by NYX.  It is called the Dream Catcher Palette/ Dusk til Dawn. The colors  remind me immensely of the Naked 2 palette colors, bronzes, a few taupes, and a matte black. The eyeshadows themselves have very little fallout and don't easily crease without primer, so I can't even imagine what it would be like with a primer.

Revlon Photoready eyeshadow in Impressionist: Review!

I don't usually go for the mini eyeshadow palettes in the store because I can just as easily create the colors with a larger palette that I already own.  But when I saw this palette, I couldn't get my mind off of it so I finally broke down and bought it.  What did I purchase? The Revlon Photoready eyeshadow palette in 505 'Impressionist'.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Swatches and Review

Well, I finally feel like an official beauty blogger now- I own one of the Naked palettes, and possibly the most coveted one.  I felt so official buying the palette, I felt like I had earned my beauty blogger pin.

All of the beautiful rose gold toned hues in their glory.

January Favorites!

Can you believe it's the end of the month? It feels like we celebrated the coming of the new year just yesterday!  I picked out a few products that I have been using a lot of this month to share with you in this month's "January Favorites!", I hope you guys enjoy!
1. Sephora Eye, Lip, and Cheek palette- I've had this palette since... well, since awhile, and it had gotten shoved towards the back when I received my BH cosmetics palettes but this month I've been reaching for it more often.  I love the pigmentation of Sephora eye shadows, and this little palette is no different than their single shadows.  There are also two mini slide trays of four blushers and twelve lip colors, but I don't use those as much as I use the eye shadows.  I have really been loving the far left column colors, the pinks, especially the bottom two which are more in the dusty rose family.  I'm really happy I've started using this palette again, I had forgotten how much I loved it!
2. NP Mosaic Blush- I don't usually wear this blush because it is more of a dark rose color when built up than a bright pink color, which is what I usually wear.  I've found this to be really great to use this winter because the color is so complimentary to the weather.  It gives a sheer wash of dusty rose in one swipe and helps to deepen the color of your cheeks but can be built up to a really nice opaque color too.  It took me awhile to figure out how to wear this but once I figured out which brush to use with it, I haven't been able to put it down!  I think I've now officially found my 'winter' blusher.
3. Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream- I've blogged about this before and how much I absolutely love it.  Since it's been so freakin' cold here in good old Missery, my cuticles and the skin around my nails has been particularly horrible.  I slap this onto the area around my nails and cuticles before I go to bed every night and when I get up in the morning and I've really noticed a marked difference in the skin around my nails.
4. Revlon Lash Potion Mascara- This is a new-ish product that I got that I've been road testing the past month, and I've been really pleased.  Anyone can tell you that I am a die hard Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara fan and will rarely deviate from it, so to try this new mascara was big for me!  What surprised me more was how much I truly liked how this mascara applied and how it makes my lashes look.  I had never tried Revlon mascara prior to this so I don't have any to compare it to, but this mascara makes my eye lashes look long and full.  Expect to see a full review of this very soon, as in probably tomorrow or sometime in the coming week.
I may or may not be posting this weekend, so the vlog will probably go up on Wednesday or Thursday next week, because I am heading out of town for the weekend and I don't know how much I will be around my computer to blog.  As always, I would love to hear what you have been loving this month. XOXO
