Lush Shampoo Bar: Review!

Everyone uses shampoo, but what type of shampoo do you use? My best friend uses all natural products, I use off the shelf regular shampoo, or, at least I used to! Now I am using the Lush Shampoo bar! I use the Jumping Juniper shampoo bar and, while I can't really use it when my hair is freshly dyed, I use it every time I wash my hair.
The best way to use it is to suds it up in your hands and then scrub your hair.  If you scrub your hair with the bar, you will get the same effect but you will use up your shampoo bar faster.  It smells really nice and refreshing.  It really leaves your hair feeling nice and clean but not stripped. It cleans away grease and "balances sebum" in the hair  leaving it healthier and gives it a good shine. It smells of lavender which is my favorite scent, but it can be a little overpowering while you are washing your hair if you don't like the scent. The lavender really helps to soothe the scalp, so if you're having scalp troubles this is the bar for you! You're the Top Series: Top 5 Lush Products

Hi Stars! Welcome back to another insert into my new ongoing "You're the Top" series, which includes my top picks of- well- everything!  Today's post is about my top favorites from Lush.  If you don't know about the shop or have never heard of them click here and you'll be re-directed to their site and let the discovery begin.  And no, I am not sponsored by them- I just really totally LOVE their products!! Makeup MAYhem Day 6: Spa Day!

 On your day of pampering, you need a comfy robe to start things off and then a nice cup of tea- preferably peppermint (not pictured).  As you sit and sip your tea and watch your favorite show, put on your favorite mask- I would suggest the Anti Stress Mask with Dead Sea Minerals which you can find at Ulta, Target, Wallgreens, Wal-mart, or Rite Aid.  You want to be fully relaxed on your 'treat yourself' day.

While you let your mask set, now is the time to get into a nice relaxing bath (or a nice hot shower if you don't have a bath) and take a bath bomb or bubble bar or bubble soap or essential oils and put them into your bath or shower and enjoy the relaxation they promote.  I prefer to use one of my Lush products, pictured below is the Sunnyside Bubble Bar [beware of the glitter that comes with Lush].

Then climb into your comfy clothes, my choice being an oversized shirt and my Boji yoga pants and now it's time to paint your nails!

For my nails I used the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy (I don't know WHY but I did) in the color Lady Luck.  This is far from my favorite nail polish, stay tuned for a post about why.  In order to make sure my mani would stay past dinner, I used the Orly Bonder base coat and a Diamond Shield top coat, along with the top coat provided.  Providing this result:

The final step in my pampering day, besides cuddling with my pup and watching a movie, is to give your lips a good scrub with a bought or home made lip scrub, followed by applying a thick layer of carmex or vaseline lip therapy to really keep your lips nice and smooth and feeling great!

Lush bath fizz in Butterball: Review

On my twenty-first birthday, I went to Universal Studios to celebrate and then we hit City Walk.  They have a great little Lush store there, so for my birthday I treated myself to a little splurge on some new loves and some old loves.  The bath fizz I tried out the other night was Butterball for $4.95, you can also find it on their website here.  This is described as a bath bomb with a vanilla scent that will leave your skin smoother and softer.  I don't know so much about the vanilla scent, I frankly didn't smell anything and was pretty disappointed in that aspect BUT the smooth and softer skin it lived up to.  I couldn't stop feeling my arms or legs because they felt so soft!  Maybe it was my head just being stuffy but I didn't smell any of the promised Vanilla scent and I love Vanilla almost as much as I love Lavender and Sandalwood. At first people think that is a weird combination but let me explain.  Lavender has always had a calming affect on me and I can never get enough of it and as for Sandalwood, the smell reminds me of the scene shop and the long hours spent there and it takes me to a good place when I'm feeling lonely or frustrated.  What are some of your favorite scents? A wonderful 21st Birthday

The 28th was my 21st birthday, the big marker of finally being legal.  I spent it at Universal Studios with my parents and had the time of my life. Universal City Walk has a Lush store and I always go in and pick up a thing or two but since it was my birthday, I did a little more treating at Lush and Hot Topic. Whoops. 

 

 

Lush Haul!

With my spending ban over, I went into Lush for a mini celebration.  I got three types of bath things and one of their massage bars.  I also got a little sample of their new for Easter carrot soap and their Simply soy body lotion.

The Phoenix Rising bath bomb is one of my all time favorites.  It looks so pretty when it all explodes out in a rainbow of colors.  Since I liked that one so much, I decided to buy a few more and give them a whirl.  Keep reading if you would like to see what I got and what my initial reactions are.

The Weekly Roundup #1

I'm starting a new series on this blog, every Sunday I will do a weekly roundup of some of my most used and favorite products of the week.  So let's dive in, shall we?

1. A big shocker that my Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert is on this list.  I've been trying to 'put on a face' every morning, which usually just involves a swipe of mascara, maybe blush, and a lip color.  Half because I'm lazy in the morning and the other half because I'm running around doing other things.  This mascara has become one of my holy grail products, and I use it almost every single day.  It gives my lashes a lift and a bit of oomph without having to use a lash curler.
2. I have also been wearing the new Fergie lipstick for Wet and Wild in the color 'D-Vinely Chilled'.  The plum color reminds me of my favorite Kate Moss for Rimmel 107 except that this lipstick has a bit of shimmer running through it and is not matte.  I really liked using this product this week because I wanted to wear a plum color but didn't want something drying and wallah!
3. Since the weather has been so bloody cold, my lips and my skin have both been taking a wallop.  Enter my Gold Bond Moisturizer with Aloe and Dr. Lipp's Nipple balm lip balm.  The Gold Bond sinks right into my skin and leaves me feeling nice and moisturized without feeling greasy.  This lip balm was something I ordered from birchbox and almost immediately regretted, it's a tiny tube for a pretty large price (about $15) for a tiny amount of product.  But, me being me, I wanted to give the actual product a fair chance and again didn't really like it but now that the months have gotten colder this has become a God send.  I put this on right after I polish my lips with my Lush Mint Juleps lip polish and it stays on all night.  My only qualm about it now, besides the price, is that it is very very sticky.
4. No list would be complete without my one of my favorite perfumes, Harijuku Lovers 'Lil' Angel'.  I hadn't used this in awhile because I am practically betrothed to my Vera Wang 'Princess' perfume, but after I left that back home I found myself reaching for this.  The scent is a nice floral scent with a tiny hint of musk undertones.  I find just a spritz on my wrist will do the job, and the scent stays around all day.
5. Coming back from home to school meant a big climate change for me, and my body was just not having it.  This is why I love to use my Aches and Pains body wash, it's got eucalyptus and mint in it to help relax a person's muscles.  It also really helps to open up your sinuses while you're in the shower.  This stuff is really one of my favorite things to use when I'm sore or feeling under the weather.

Lush Phoenix Rising Bath Bomb- Review and Photos

During my trip to Universals, I made a stop at the Lush store and I purchased a bath bomb, Phoenix Rising, and a bubble bar which I have already done a review of.  The look of this bath bomb is what initially drew me into it, it's a beautiful purple/ pink color with gold running through it and, apparently, inside there is a nice teal color that blooms out- just like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.  The scent of this is an amazing apple cinnamon scent, but it's luckily not too strong or else I'd be sneezing up a storm! I cut my bath bombs and bubble bars up to make them last longer, and so I didn't get the teal in this drop but it did turn my bath water a lovely bright pink color.  As almost everyone knows, pink is my favorite color (next to Tardis blue, of course).  I really liked how this made my skin feel too, it didn't dry me out or anything but instead left my skin feeling soft and nourished.  The scent also lingered on my skin and in the bathroom, which made the experience all that much better.  You can either pick this up at the Lush store or online for $6.95.  Have you tried any Lush products? LUSH Sunny Side Bubble Bar: REVIEW

This week I had the fortune to go to Universal Studios with one of my best friends- it's like my Disneyland. Anyway, at Universal City Walk there is a Lush Cosmetics store so OBVIOUSLY I had to stop in!  One of the things I picked up was their Sunny Side Bubble Bar.  I've never tried any of their bath bombs or bubble bars, so this was a new venture for me, and I was not disappointed.  Here's what it looks like:

I've used it twice already because I cut bits of it off and put it in my bath.  There's a lot of glitter on this bar and I didn't feel like having to clean glitter out of the tub.  Anywho! This baby really bubbles up with just using a few chunks, so I can't even imagine how many bubbles there would be if I used the whole bar in one go!  The smell is lovely, it's a citrusy smell- kinda like Soap and Glory.  It makes the water a gold tint and really soft.  I don't know if that makes any sense, soft water, but it does! It makes my skin feel really nice before I even put on my after bath oil to lock in moisture.  This bar far surpassed my expectation of any bubble bar and once again I was not disappointed by Lush.  If you can, order it online or go and pick one up in stores- they are $7.25 each, which, with getting multiple uses out of it I don't find to be too terrible.
