Makeup MAYhem Day 28: ELF Lash Primer REVIEW
Here are the products I used to test the ELF Lash Primer; ELF Lash Primer (obviously), Maybelline The Rocket mascara, and my Tarte eyelash curler. I prepped my eyelashes by curling them with my curler. I clamp down on my lashes then bend them up and pump for ten counts and then hold the lash curler there for a count of five. I did this on both eyes. Then on my right eye (the picture's left eye) I applied the eyelash primer, using two coats. I then put The Rocket mascara on the non primed eye for the first coat and then put the first coat on the primed eye, wiggling the brush back and forth. I then went back and repeated the previous step except this time instead of wiggling the brush, I blinked my lashes into the product and I did this on both eyes. Here is the result:
As you can see, the lashes with the primer look significantly longer and thicker than the side without the primer. My final verdict? At first I was VERY apprehensive about this product. I mean, a GOOD lash primer for under $20? You've got to be joking. As you can see, though, I am currently eating my own words. This lash primer is absolutely amazing and comes in at under $10. ELF definitely has it's misses but as I've discovered this past 2015 it has more hits than misses. I would definitely recommend this product for people wanting to try a lash primer for the first time OR looking for a new one since they've finished off their high end one. I definitely say go to the ELF site here and get yourself this product. XOXO

Makeup MAYhem Day #2: My Top Five Mascaras
Hello again Stars, how have you been this week? It's been super crazy for me and about to get crazier with Aladdin closing this Saturday. So, before the craziness ensues I wanted to get up another well thought out and devised post.... which just happens to go along with my blush post. Oh, before we get to the good stuff, do you know what I did today? I got to go shopping with my friend Amy and help her pick out some of her first high end makeup products, like foundation and lippies, and then I got to teach her how to apply them all. Another job done well, booyah! Okay, okay, I'll stop rambling- onto the TOP FIVE MASCARAS!!
As with the blushes, they are in no particular order, and just because one comes before another does not mean I like it more or less. Cool? Cool. Let's rock this boat! (I have no clue what's with the sailing analogy, sorry guys)
1. Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, so I said this wasn't in any particular order- and it's not- but this is my Holy Grail high end mascara (with Perversion coming in a close second). This mascara has an hourglass shaped wand that just makes your lashes looked fluttery and full and long without the hassle and trouble of false lashes. I love this mascara, that's all I can really say.
2. Maybelline Rocket Volume mascara, okay. So. I picked this up on a whim at Wallgreens one day when they were on sale for $6 instead of the regular price and I decided to pick one up. I had actually had pretty bad experiences with the last two Maybelline one's I had tried at the time so for me to take the plunge and try this was hard but you know what? I'm so glad I did. This mascara is great for a drugstore mascara, I wouldn't say it gives me 'Rocket Volume' but I do notice that my lashes are a bit more voluminous and longer than when I went without it. You do have to remember to curl your lashes before using it or you're going to have sad lashes.
3. Rimmel Scandaleyes Flex Mascara, my dad picked this up for me for Easter in a two pack because I wanted to try new Scandaleyes products but didn't know where to start, so he started with trying to get me away from my 'old faithful' mascara from the line and got this. First off, the brush is hugh and it's bristles not plastic, which is really nice to see.
4. Rimmel Scandaleyes Cruve Alert Mascara is my all time favorite mascara. It gives my lashes a great curl without using an eyelash curler. And is just my all time favorite. That's all I can say. Just go and try it.
5. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara has made it's way up in the ranks pretty fast, to the second spot just under my Curve Alert. It's an amazing mascara that lifts and separates while also give a bit of curl and volume. The brush is curved and has both short and long plastic bristles that help to get each and every lash.
So, two Rimmel mascaras and two Maybelline mascaras- can you guess my favorite brand yet? What are your favorite mascaras? Are there ones that you think I should try? Let me know down in the comments! XOXO

One mascara, two mascara, three mascara WEE!
Okay, so I don't have three mascaras it's more like eleven and one clear gel for my brows. I know, I know, that's so many mascaras, right? Don't worry, dear fellow beauty bloggers, not all of them are open, I just took them out of their packaging because it was bulky and in the way. Right now the two that I am using are Maybelline's Mega Plush mascara and the L'Oreal Butterfly mascara and I keep them in my acrylic storage on my desk so I make sure to use them every day. Would you feel better if I told you the ones that aren't opened yet? Okay, I haven't opened the Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert, The Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves, and the E.L.F. glitter mascara. So I guess I have a slight obsession but I like having choices and being able to rotate them out every week makes it worth it.
The Maybelline Pumped Up Volume really surprised me, I had never tried any piece of makeup made by Maybelline and so I was wary of how this mascara would work. It makes my lashes look fuller and slightly longer so I would recommend it for you too try. I am still unsure of the Maybelline Mega Plush mascara, since I've only used it a few times since the new week started on Sunday. Then I have four Rimmel mascaras, two of which are unopened but one is a repurchase and the other I can talk about how I think it will work with the funny brush. Firstly, Scandaleyes Curve Alert is hand down one of my most loved mascaras. It helps to make my lashes look like I'm wearing falsies and I just absolutely love this mascara. The other Scandaleyes I have is the Rockin' Curves one, I've never tried this one and since it isn't opened yet I can't attest to what it does to my lashes. The thing that interests me about this mascara si the wand, it's in an almost 'S' shape. I will let you know my findings when I open it! Another Rimmel mascara I own is the Retro Glam mascara. This wand has two little bumps in the brush and that helps to make my lashes look more lush. Finally, the last Rimmel mascara I own is the Lash Accelerator. This one I am not too impressed with and am going to get rid of it. I already have pretty good lashes so I guess I wasn't the best person to test the mascara that's supposed to help with the growth and lengthening of the lashes.
I received the CK One mascara on my birthday from Ulta as my birthday gift for being a rewards member. Speaking of that, if you're not an Ulta rewards member you should definitely become because you get special coupons, a birthday gift, the chance to be a platinum member (which I am one) and you can get money off of your purchase if you have the right amount of points. Anyway, I really like this mascara. It separates my lashes and doesn't make them clump, which was a fear of mine because of the brush being plastic but none of my fears happened. This is a great mascara for seperating and lengthening my lashes. Next mascara is the L'Oreal butterfly mascara. I really love this stuff because it gives my natural lashes a winged look, which I am always trying to achieve. Then the L'Oreal Voluminous I really just bought on a whim because it was teal colored. I actually really like it when I do a coat of black mascara and then coat that with a layer of the Teal. I think that the teal just alone would be too over powering. Revlon Lash Potion, this is another one I need to throw away because it just doesn't work for me. It doesn't look good on my lashes and it can't hold a curl worth a hill of beans. So, in my personal opinion, don't get the Revlon Lash Potion mascara. As for the blue glitter mascara, I don't really know much about it other than that it is glittery. Since I haven't opened it I have no idea if it is good or bad.
What are some of your favorite mascaras? Do you collect them like I do? Which one (high end or drugstore) should I try next?
Thanks for reading! XOXO

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes: REVIEW
I am a Rimmel girl through and through when it comes to mascara so for me to try another brand's mascara, it has to be a big deal. I had heard a lot of good things about the Falsies line from Maybelline and so I figured I would give their newest mascara a shot and here is what I thought.

Revlon Lash Potion: Review and Swatches
This month, I have been test driving Revlon's Lash Potion Mascara, so here is what I think.
I am a Rimmel girl through and through, you can never separate me from my Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert Mascara but, alas, it has happened. This will not be replacing my favorite mascara but it does come in a close second to all of my favorite Rimmel Mascaras. I had never tried Revlon mascaras before so I was a bit skeptical when I first picked this up from the store but, after seeing the adds, I just had to try it.The Product: This comes with your normal spooly wand and tube, nothing to see here, nothing to see here. The product itself is a bit more wet than I am used to, and definitely caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting anything excellent from a product that was so liquidy when first applied, or from a normal fiber brush, but I was wrong.
My Reaction: I was really surprised by this product. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but, well, just look.
On the left we have my eye without any curling or mascara, and on the right we have my lashes curled with the mascara put on. As you can see it makes a great difference in how long my lashes look, and how full they look. I was really quite pleased with this product, and will keep on using it for the months to come.
Left- with mascara and curling, right- with no mascara or curling.

January Favorites!
Can you believe it's the end of the month? It feels like we celebrated the coming of the new year just yesterday! I picked out a few products that I have been using a lot of this month to share with you in this month's "January Favorites!", I hope you guys enjoy!
1. Sephora Eye, Lip, and Cheek palette- I've had this palette since... well, since awhile, and it had gotten shoved towards the back when I received my BH cosmetics palettes but this month I've been reaching for it more often. I love the pigmentation of Sephora eye shadows, and this little palette is no different than their single shadows. There are also two mini slide trays of four blushers and twelve lip colors, but I don't use those as much as I use the eye shadows. I have really been loving the far left column colors, the pinks, especially the bottom two which are more in the dusty rose family. I'm really happy I've started using this palette again, I had forgotten how much I loved it!
2. NP Mosaic Blush- I don't usually wear this blush because it is more of a dark rose color when built up than a bright pink color, which is what I usually wear. I've found this to be really great to use this winter because the color is so complimentary to the weather. It gives a sheer wash of dusty rose in one swipe and helps to deepen the color of your cheeks but can be built up to a really nice opaque color too. It took me awhile to figure out how to wear this but once I figured out which brush to use with it, I haven't been able to put it down! I think I've now officially found my 'winter' blusher.
3. Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream- I've blogged about this before and how much I absolutely love it. Since it's been so freakin' cold here in good old Missery, my cuticles and the skin around my nails has been particularly horrible. I slap this onto the area around my nails and cuticles before I go to bed every night and when I get up in the morning and I've really noticed a marked difference in the skin around my nails.
4. Revlon Lash Potion Mascara- This is a new-ish product that I got that I've been road testing the past month, and I've been really pleased. Anyone can tell you that I am a die hard Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara fan and will rarely deviate from it, so to try this new mascara was big for me! What surprised me more was how much I truly liked how this mascara applied and how it makes my lashes look. I had never tried Revlon mascara prior to this so I don't have any to compare it to, but this mascara makes my eye lashes look long and full. Expect to see a full review of this very soon, as in probably tomorrow or sometime in the coming week.
I may or may not be posting this weekend, so the vlog will probably go up on Wednesday or Thursday next week, because I am heading out of town for the weekend and I don't know how much I will be around my computer to blog. As always, I would love to hear what you have been loving this month. XOXO

My name is Emma and I'm a Mascara-holic
When I travel, I take everything plus the kitchen sink and the refrigerator with me. Let's put it this way, I showed up at home with three mascaras and am leaving with seven. I have a mascara problem, I readily admit it. Three are Rimmel and then the rest is a cacophony of random ones that I picked up to try. Let's start with Rimmel, shall we?
1) Rimmel Lash Accelerator: I haven't had this one for very long, less than a month, but I really love it. I like to use this as a first coat mascara and then top it off with another mascara. I have noticed a difference in my lashes when I wear this mascara, that they look a little bit longer than usual.
2) Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert: HOLY. GRAIL. PRODUCT. This is hands down my favorite mascara of my entire collection. It gives my lashes curl, volume, and length all in one go. Plus, the product itself is a really nice consistency and goes onto the lashes without leaving them spidery or clumped together.
3) Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam: I just bought this last week, so I don't have a fully formulated opinion on it just yet but I will have one soon. My first impression is that the brush looks a little funny, but in a good way, and the consistency is just as nice as that in Curve Alert.
4) Covergirl mascara- I don't remember the full name of this product sadly, but it came out with their Hunger Games collection. I'm not a big Covergirl myself, but I wanted to give this mascara a try because I had heard so many things about it. I think that it's a nice mascara to keep in my purse for a quick swipe during the day or if I wind up having to look a bit dressier than I planned. That being said, I don't think there is anything particularly spectacular about this mascara.
5) Flower by Drew Barrymore 3 in 1: I picked this mascara up over the summer and am so glad I did! As it says, 3 in 1, you can choose length, volume, or curve for your lashes. The tippy top of the brush twists so as to change the brush shape for what you desire. I have found that with the curve setting, I get a nice 'flick' at the end of my lashes. This brand is new and available at Walmart, it is also cruelty free.
6) Too Faced Better Than Sex: This is a little sample mascara I got in a gift box that had a few Too Faced products that are loved by bloggers. I didn't expect to like this as much as I do, but it's a really nice mascara to have. I find that with this mascara I don't have to use an eyelash curler to get good volume. The product itself is very nice and doesn't spider the eye lashes. If you can't already tell I hate spidery lashes, like, a lot.
7) Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes: I just picked this up last week so I don't have a full and correctly formulated opinion on it yet. I do like that it comes with two different brushes, one for the upper lashes, one for the bottom lashes. The few things I've read about this have either been raves or absolute hates, so I am interested to see what I think myself because I am so picky about my mascara.

Rimmel Extra WOW Lash Mascara
Rimmel is, by far, one of my favorite make up brands and they never seem to disappoint me. I picked this up the other day at the drugstore because it was on sale and I needed a new mascara for my bag. It's a nice mascara but I'm not too sure about the WOW factor. The Scandaleyes mascara line definitely makes my lashes look much longer and more curled than this does BUT with that being said, I wouldn't immediately throw this out. It is good for a nice little lift, and a subtle defined lash- great for the day. The bottle is simple and streamlined, which means it goes great in my back pack and I can quickly coat it on while I'm on my way to class. One thing I really do like about this is that I really like how it looks on my bottom lashes. It doesn't make them look too defined and they don't disappear like they always do. It gives them a 'we're here, but not in your face' kind of way. So while I don't know if I would purchase right away again, I would suggest you give this product a try for a travel bag or if you're an on the go student who needs a quick lift in between classes.

It's a new mascara kind of day!
Known to all, I LOVE my Rimmel Glam Eyes mascara and I really really love my Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion mascara- bet's to say it's my favorite mascara ever. Yet, the other day while I was in Walmart I picked up the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert Mascara and I've been pretty darn happy with it!
It's been forever since I used a mascara that had the actual bristle brush and not have the plastic bristles like my Covergirl mascara, and I was a little bit more than wary because my experience with these types of brushes has been less than lackluster. My eyelashes would go all spidery and clumpy and it just would look terrible, but this brush is different. I don't know how or why or maybe it's because I've learned to apply makeup properly but my eyelashes aren't clumping when I use this.
I didn't take a picture with no mascara, but this is one coat of the mascara on my somewhat curled eyelashes. In terms of volume or length it's not terribly all that great, but when it comes to curving and giving a winged out look, this hits the spot. I think this would be great for an everyday mascara because it's not too in your face, it's just a nice natural lash with that tiny bit of extra something to enhance my eyes. This would also be really good if I do a double coat with this as the base coat and then I finish it off with my Covergirl mascara, then it would be a very nice eye for going out on the town or in my case- being on the stage.
All in all, I'm very impressed with this mascara and I would definitely consider repurchasing it.
