Makeup MAYhem Day 22: Top 5 Lipsticks

Hello Stars! Welcome back to the beginning of the end- of Makeup MAYhem that is, less than ten days left now and today is day 22 and along with it my top five favorite lipsticks of the moment.

Let's get started shall we? :D
1. Flower beauty by Drew Barrymore in Classic Red.  This is one of my favorite reds and I actually picked it up in a rush  before a show because I didn't have red lipstick.  I wasn't expecting much from it; I knew nothing about the brand, was in a rush, and hadn't researched what their formulas were like.  I was so wonderfully surprised with this lipstick.  It is very creamy, smooth, and long lasting, it's absolutely amazing.
2. City Color City Chic lipstick in Pinky Promise- this is my perfect pink nude.  It is super pigmented and very creamy- all of the City Chic lipsticks are, it was hard to pick my favorite!  This pink is absolutely stunning on people with pale skin like me, it compliments the skin tone without being too 'out there', ya know? An amazing lipstick AND company!
3. Bite Beauty in Lingonberry- you can only get this shade in the mini duo with Tangerine (I believe) and it's a beautiful shade.  At first I was afraid because of how purple/magenta-y it was but once it's on, it looks absolutely lovely! The color doesn't wash me out and if you're looking for a bold lip, this is definitely one to go for.  It's a purple tone, even though it's more magenta pinkish, that paler people can wear without looking strange.  Or at least that's how I feel about the whole situation.  This goes on super creamy and stays that way, it would never dry your lips out.  The one downside is that you do have to reapply it often because of it being so creamy and you can't leave it anywhere it's going to get super hot or else you'll have a, err, hot mess on your hands and a ruined lipstick to boot.
4. Gerard Cosmetics in Tequila Sunrise- this is a very nice nude color, but it does err to the side of more orange than nude but I'm okay with that.  The one thing I would have to say I don't like about this lipstick is that it is very dry going on and makes it very hard to get a smooth application. The color payoff on the other hand is absolutely amazing.  I love the color of this lipstick and I want to try more Gerard Cosmetic lipsticks in the future because they are absolutely amazing and the staying power is great.
5. MAC Cremesheen in Crosswires- this was my very first MAC lipstick and I still love it to this day.  It's a gorgeous pinky brown but more pink color with a little hint of shimmer and shine.  It doesn't dry my lips out nor does it sink into the lines of my lips.  The color payoff is what you would expect of a MAC lipstick, so, amazing! I love this lipstick and when I don't know what lipstick to wear, this is the one I reach for nine times out of ten.
What are some of your favorite lipsticks? XOXO

Maybelline Matte Lipstick: REVIEW

This post is not part of Makeup MAYhem, it's just a normal everyday post because I wanted to share this product with you.
A few weeks ago, I picked up one of the new (or maybe they're not 'new' but they're new to me) Maybelline Creamy Matte lipsticks in the color 670 'Ravishing Rose'.  I picked this up because I've been LOVING their Rebel Bloom and Vivids collection so I figured I would give one of these a try and I was not disappointed.
I don't usually use matte lip products unless they are the Revlon Matte lip crayons because I was having trouble getting into this new fad but not anymore! I absolutely adore this lipstick; the color, the texture, the non-existent scent, everything about it is wonderful.  I don't find it drying my lips out even though it is a matte lipstick, which is unlike most mattes out there.  I do find that it can sink into the tiny lines in my lips if I don't leave a lip balm on for a few minutes beforehand but even if I don't do that it doesn't deter me from wearing the lipstick.  The color is the perfect pinky-nude on me, and anyone else who is pretty fair like I am.  The consistency is very creamy and the lipstick just glides onto the lips instead of having a dragging feeling like some other matte products I have tried.  I also like that the packaging is matte so that I can easily spot it in my collection.  That's actually one of the things I love about the Maybelline lipsticks in general- the packaging goes with the type of product in the tube.  Otherwise the packaging is like that of any other Maybelline lipstick, silver base with the color and name sticker on the bottom with the product in a silver bullet.  I picked this product up at Walmart where the Maybelline Creamy Matte's collection runs about $6 which, for a lipstick, isn't too bad when L'Oreal and Revlon can run $4-$8 so it's right there in the middle ground.  Have you tried this lipstick? What do you think of it? XOXO

Nude Lipstick Look for the Caspers out there (like me!)

Hello there Stars! How many of you, like me, are pale caspers out there reading this blog right now? How many? (Comment down below, promise I don't bite!) You probably think to yourself, oh, I can't wear nude lipstick or lipgloss because it will make me look paler than I already am but I'm here to tell you, help is on the way! You can go for a nude pink or you can actually go for a nude, nude, like I'm holding in my hands above (which I'm missing one product but we'll get to that later).  The two things I'm holding is the Wet n Wild lipstick (with the flat slanted rounded tops) in 902C in 'Bare it All' and in my other hand is the NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in 104 'Sweetheart'.  You can either wear these apart but I prefer to wear them together because the lipstick can look a bit harsh in bright sunlight.  The other product that I didn't photograph but want to mention is the Gerard Cosmetics lip gloss in Nude.  While it is more of a pinky nude, it does lean quite heavily to the nude side.  I got this a month or two ago and when I put it on the first time I was in love.  One swipe and I wasn't washed out, I didn't look like Casper with lipstick on, it actually looked really nice.  The best part was that it helped to lighten, i.e. brighten but less, my face and made me smile ear to ear.  These are my favorite nude options for if you're quite pale but what are yours? It doesn't matter the skin tone, I would just love to hear from my Stars.  If you would like to see a look either on here or on my YouTube Channel please let me know down below so I can get that up as soon as possible for you guys.  Always remember:

Maybelline Vivids lipstick: REVIEW!

Good morning Stars! I hope you had a wonderful night's sleep.  Why am I posting at 6AM California time? Because I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so I figured I would blog :)  This post is going to be about, as you can probably tell, is the Maybelline Vivids lipsticks I own.  While I don't own very many, I absolutely love them! They're so bright and creamy and vibrant that I just have to tell you all about it in case you are on the fence about buying some.  As you will see in the pictures, the package is bright clear-ish red cover and a silver base and tube. Enough rambling, onto the pictures!
This is all of the Maybelline Vivids I own, only four, but I'm very happy with it.  The colors I have, in the order from the picture above: #895 On Fire Red is a really true red that isn't too blue toned or orange toned which made me really happy when I got home and tested it, #885 Vibrant Mandarin is an coral like orange which is why I can pull it off and not look weird wearing orange lipstick, #875 Vivid Rose okay so I didn't expect to love this color as much as I do because I swore Shocking Coral would always be my favorite but it's not fuschia and it's not bright pink and it's such a pretty darker than dusty rose color, the last lipstick I own is #870 Shocking Coral this one is special because it's the first one I bought at Target and this is a really true bright pink which I love because, hey, I love my pinks!
All of my little soldiers lined up in a row.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and maybe helped you decide to go and pick up some Vivids of your own.  What are your favorite colors of the collection? Do you have any lipstick products or colors you think I should try? Leave it down in the comments below! <3

Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom: Review!

Hello Stars! I'm back with another review, but it's about lipsticks this time :) Specifically, the Maybelline Rebel Bloom lipsticks.  Lately I've been on a real Maybelline quick, buying the lipsticks, color tattoos and the mascaras- I've just gone crazy for it! I love lip colors so reviewing the lip colors first seem appropriate.  I initially picked up #740 Coral Burst at Target about a month and a half ago and as soon as I put it on I knew that I had to get more so I was at Target a few weeks ago and I got two more colors that I liked, #735 Rose Hush which to me looks like a brick red instead of a true red, and finally #715 Hibiscus Pop which is a gorgeous bright baby pink that is more meant for spring, so I will wear it more during April and so on.
This is what the tubes look like and the colors that I picked out.  Personally, I think that the picture doesn't do Hibiscus Pop or Coral Burst any justice because they are soooo pretty in real life. They are very creamy and non drying, which is a big plus in my book.  Plus the colors are very vibrant, like the vivids, and I'm just in love.
Here are the swatches of the Rebel Bloom lipsticks I own, from top to bottom they are Hibiscus Pop, Rose Rush, and Coral Burst and those are all one swipe of the lipstick to give you an idea to how pigmented these lipsticks are. I hope all of my Stars have a great upcoming week!

City Color Dual Lip Wand: Review!

Another AMAZING City Color Cosmetics product, the Dual Lip Wand in Pink.  I actually got this initially just for the lipstick because it's a gorgeous rosy/baby/gorgeous pink.   I was in no way interested in the lipgloss but when I put the lipstick on, I just felt the growing want to try the lipgloss, so I did! See picture above.  This gloss/lipstick duo is currently on sale $3.99 on citycolorcosmetics.com. Go check them out. Seriously. Great prices, great products, just great.

All of the lip products!

Today I went through all of my lip products, and I want to show you my collection.  Now, before I get some nasty comments, I do use all of these products and I rotate them in my case daily so each one gets equal love.
To start I figured I would use the thing that I have the smallest amount of- lip stains, lip/cheek stains.  One is the popular Posie Tint by Benefit, which I absolutely love. Then this Stainiac lip stain, it's a pretty color but I haven't figured out how to wear it so it's complimentary to my skin tone.

MAC lipstick "Head in the Clouds" REVIEW

My MAC lipstick collection is slowly growing, slow and steady wins the race.  The latest color I picked up is the color A14 "Head in the Clouds" which is a bright red with gold shimmer running through it.  The color payout is exactly what you would expect from any MAC lipstick, impeccable.  The formula is creamy and non drying.  The lipstick has a staying power of around three to four hours before I need to reapply it.
You would think because of the glitter/shimmer that it would be gritty and not pleasant to put on but it's quite the opposite.  When I apply this I don't even use a lip brush, which I usually do when applying reds to make the application process precise.  Have you tried this color, what do you think of it? XOXO

A new MAC love

It's needless to say that I love red lipsticks (and pink!), but I think I've found a new love in  MAC's 'Head in the Clouds'.
I picked this beauty up when I was in the Mall of America, and I'm really happy with my choice. This is a frosted red from their regular collection, so you don't have to worry about it disappearing anytime soon!
The frost in this is more of a gold shimmer, which I really love.   I do think of this as more of a shimmer than a frost, to be quite honest.  The red is more of an orange tinted red than blue, so be sure to test it out before you buy especially if you are wary of bright lip colors.  The formulation is like all of their lipsticks, nice and creamy. This stuff applies like a dream and doesn't smear or bleed, at least not that I've noticed.  I've been wearing this without lip liner and have not noticed it bleeding or smearing out which is a big bonus since I don't wear lip liner very often.
In this swatch it looks a lot more blue toned than it actually is but it looks a lot different on the lips.  What are some of your favorite reds that I should try out? XOXO

The BEST Nude lipstick

Okay, it may not be the best nude lipstick for you but it certainly is the best nude lipstick I've found for myself. The color is 'Tender Heart' and it's from Clinique. I don't even know if they make this color anymore, oh well, best make it last whilst I have it.  Here's what it looks like:
I'm really fair, so finding a nude color that doesn't wash me out is really difficult and I've tried time and time again to get it right and failed miserably on multiple attempts.  Then I whipped out this beauty from my collection of lip products this morning and fell in love with it all over again.  I remember getting it in a sample bag from Clinique and being very apprehensive about the color at first.  It's a peachy brown nude, without any shimmer but it's not a drying matte consistency.  It's hydrating, it stays and doesn't leave a wring around my lips, and just looks good with anything.  I have rediscovered my love of this lipstick and will definitely be wearing it on a more constant occasion. What do you think of the color? XOXO

Fergie for Wet n' Wild- Lipstick Review

This past fall/winter, Fergie released a new collection with the brand Wet n' Wild fully of deep, vampy colors- perfect for winter weather.  I picked up two of the lipsticks, one being a bright, blue toned red and the other being this lovely plum color with just a hint of frost to it.  This color is called 'D-Vinely Chilled'.  I talked briefly about this in my weekly round up last Sunday, but I wanted to go a bit more in depth because I have fallen head over heels for this color.  It's a plum color, reminiscent of Kate Moss Rimmel Matte lipstick in 107- which was my first foray into berry toned lipsticks.  At first, I was a bit wary of the color because it looked so deep in the packaging but for about $3, what could I lose?  This is not a matte lipstick, but instead has a soft frost/shimmer to it, which really makes it stand out.  I was really surprised at how much I liked the texture of this lipstick, too.  It's creamy and glides on without having to use much pressure at all.  It does have that sort of 'old lady' like smell to it, but I sort of like that and you don't notice it once it's applied.  I think this is a great color to wear during the day or night, but especially during the colder months.  It's just that right bit of 'vampy' to give you that little edge.  During the day, you could pare it with a nice champagne colored eye and simple cheek and then at night you could pair it with a bolder, smokier eye and just go all out and be bold.  I personally would highly recommend the lipsticks from the Fergie collection, I think they're wonderful for the price but I haven't tried any of the other things from the collection.  Maybe I should? Have you tried anything from this collection? XOXO

Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color: Review

When I was at Ulta the other day, I picked up something that had been on my Christmas list- Benefit's Hydra-Smooth lip color lipstick in Tutti Cutie.

I really love the packaging of this- It's elegant, sturdy, and practical.  I have a thing for Grecian Columns and that is what first drew me to this lipstick, the packaging.  I also love that it came in a cylinder container so it wasn't just a loose lipstick.  The applicator is not your typical slant tip lipstick, it looks more like a chisel.  I have found in applying this, that it makes it easier.  Because of how the top is shaped, it makes it really easy to do my cupids bow.
This lipstick is more of a balm than a lipstick in texture and goes on pretty sheer on the lips.  The swatch below is four swipes of the lipstick.  It's a nice pink color that, on me, is one of those "my lips but better" colors.  I like the lipstick but I do wish it was a bit more opaque on my lips.  All in all, a really nice product and I'm glad that I purchased it.  Have you tried this new lipstick from Benefit? XOXO

Model Co. Cosmetics Party Proof lipstick: Review

I received this lipstick in one of my Birchboxes a couple months ago and I've been meaning to do a review because it is FABULOUS!  This lipstick is matte, but it doesn't dry my lips out or accentuate the lines in my lips.  The color I received is called "Disco Fever", which is a salmony pink color.  It's a nice color to wear during the day because on me it's a flattering subtle pink.  The packaging is really nice too, the top of the lid is clear so that you can see the color without actually having to open the tube.  My biggest qualm, and it's not even that big, is that the lipstick itself is very soft.  It's very smushy, making me afraid to use it for fear of ruining it since I have no clue when I could get another one.  Overall, I would definitely recommend this product especially to those with dry or cracked lips who want to give matte lipsticks a try.  I am really pleased with this product.
Have you ever tried this brand? XOXO
